The 2020 BMW PGA Championship was the 66th edition of the BMW PGA Championship, an annual golf tournament on the European Tour, which was originally due to be held 10–13 September at the West Course of Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England, a suburb southwest of London.
The Western Golf Association, which founded and ran the Western Open, runs the BMW Championship. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, the PGA Tour named the BMW Championship its Tournament of the Year. [1] The BMW Championship is the longest running regular PGA Tour event on the calendar outside of the four major tournaments.
The BMW PGA Championship has usually been played each May, on the weekend of the UK's Spring Bank Holiday, over the West Course at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. The PGA European Tour has its headquarters at the club and as the tour's home tournament, the BMW PGA Championship is often regarded as the flagship event on the European Tour.
The BMW Championship will be played August 17–20. 50 players are eligible to play in the event. There is no second-round cut. Hideki Matsuyama withdrew prior to the second round with a back injury, thus ending his streak of qualifying for nine consecutive Tour Championship's, the longest streak of any active player.
