Stanford's Human Biology Program [1] is an undergraduate major; it integrates the natural and social sciences in the study of human beings. It is interdisciplinary and policy-oriented and was founded in 1970 by a group of Stanford faculty (Professors Dornbusch, Ehrlich, Hamburg, Hastorf, Kennedy, Kretchmer, Lederberg, and Pittendrigh). [2]
The Departments of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics, Genetics, Cell Biology and Development, and Biology Teaching and Learning are based on the Minneapolis campus. Administrative offices for the College of Biological Sciences, including the CBS Dean's Office, are located in Snyder Hall on the St. Paul campus.
Pre-medical students may be advised or required to take upper-level biology and chemistry electives, such as cellular biology, physical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics. Specific requirements for these courses vary by institution. Organic Chemistry is one of the most popular upper-level courses.
UC Davis' biology programs are consistently ranked in the top ten in the nation, with its Genetics and Evolution and Ecology programs frequently ranked as best in the U.S. Biological Sciences is the second most popular major at UC Davis, and 1/4 of the students at the university are within the CBS.
This course is designed for students who wish to pursue an interest in the life sciences. The College Board recommends successful completion of high school biology and high school chemistry [ 2 ] before commencing AP Biology, although the actual prerequisites vary from school to school and from state to state.
