Stamford (/ ˈ s t æ m f ər d /) is a city in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States, 34 miles (55 kilometers) outside of New York City.It is the sixth-most populous city in New England.
In 2001, the city began a renovation project, partly funded by state grants. [3] The City of Stamford established the Old Town Hall Redevelopment Agency in 2006 to oversee three limited-liability corporations to whom ownership of the building was transferred as part of the project. [3] The renovation was completed in 2010.
F. D. Rich, with partners Donald Trump and Louis R. Cappelli, built the Trump Parc Stamford, a 170-unit, 34-story condominium tower which was the tallest building in the city at the time of its opening in 2009, eclipsing One Landmark Square by more than 80 feet (24 m) in height.
Stamford in the 1960s was a residential suburb of New York City, with a few industries and research laboratories, but of Stamford's downtown was razed and rebuilt it with modern skyscrapers, and several major corporations moved their headquarters to Stamford, creating one of the largest corporate concentrations in the United States.
