The Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain Railroad was founded in 1849 as the Northern Railroad running from Ogdensburg to Rouses Point, New York. The 118-mile (190 km) railroad was leased by rival Central Vermont Railroad for several decades, ending in 1896. It was purchased in 1901 by the Rutland Railroad and became its Ogdensburg Division.
Champlain is a town in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 5,754 at the 2010 census. [2] The town is located on the western shore of Lake Champlain, near the northern end of Lake Champlain and is on the U.S./Canadian border. The town occupies the northeastern corner of Clinton County and the state of New York.
The Overton Corners Border Inspection Station is located at a bend in the road of New York State Route 276 at a crossroads with Canadian Route 221. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) station is directly north and in an unusual arrangement is on the same side of the road and shares a common side lot boundary.
