Five Mile Beach is a barrier island along the Atlantic Ocean between Hereford Inlet on the northeast, and the former Turtle Gut Inlet on the southwest. Grassy Sound, Richardson Sound, Taylor Sound and Sunset Lake, as well as an expanse of salt marsh and tidal channels separates Five Mile Beach from the mainland.

Built in 2001 to replace an older Convention Hall, the center has exhibition space of 260,000 sq ft (24,000 m 2). The building includes the Oceanfront Arena, an indoor arena that can seat up to 7,000 spectators.
Route 147 eastbound past the Garden State Parkway in Middle Township. What is now Route 147 was an unimproved road back in 1927. [5] When the 500-series county routes were established in the 1950s, this road became a part of CR 585, a route that ran from Route 109 (then a part of US 9) in Lower Township north to US 30 and Route 157 in Absecon.
