Paris is a home rule-class city in Bourbon County, Kentucky, and the county seat. [8] It lies 18 miles (29 km) northeast of Lexington on the Stoner Fork of the Licking River . It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area .

KY 956 begins at an intersection with Kentucky Route 595 and Mayde Road, just east of exit 77 of I-75. KY 956 travels east one half-mile (0.80 km) before crossing a CSX Transportation line. Two-tenths of a mile (0.32 km) later, the road intersects Menelaus Road , which carries Kentucky Route 1983 , a rural secondary highway.
