Outlaw Star (星方武侠アウトロースター, Seihō Bukyō Autorō Sutā, lit."Starward Warrior Knight Outlaw Star") is a Japanese media mix primarily consisting of an anime television series produced by Sunrise (now a division of Bandai Namco Filmworks) and a corresponding seinen manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Itō.
A Chinese version of the manga was published in Hong Kong by Sharp Point Press. [8] [9] The series has also been published in German and Italian by Planet Manga. Takehiko Itō (伊東 岳彦, Itō Takehiko) is a Japanese manga artist best known for his work on the manga Outlaw Star from his affiliated Morning Star Studio. He was also the primary creative mind behind other works of fiction set in the Toward Stars universe including the Uchuu Eiyuu Monogatari manga and Angel Links anime series.
Planned by Sunrise (under the Hajime Yatate pseudonym) and Itō, Outlaw Star first appeared as a manga originally serialized in the monthly Shueisha magazine Ultra Jump between 1996 and 1999 for a total of 21 chapters. Three volumes of collected chapters were published in Japan between August 1997 and January 1999.
The Outlaw Star and its crew is captured by private security forces and Gene confronts their leader, a Saurian named Duuz, accompanied by his colleague, Valeria.
