Zona Rosa is an approximately 1,000,000 square feet (93,000 m 2), mixed-use lifestyle center located in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri. [1] The project opened in 2004 and was expanded by an additional 500,000 square feet (46,000 m 2 ) starting in 2008, including the addition of Dillard's , which moved from Metro North Mall .
Later in 2015, Party City opened on the north side of the mall next to JCPenney. [10] [11] In May 2017, one of the anchor retailers, Sears, permanently closed its doors. In 2018, the mall established an area of smaller shops, located behind Topsy's, called 'The River' which focus on featuring small town businesses and boutiques.

Some the mall's unique aspects were its many fountains; many nearly flush at floor level without guardrails (barriers were added in the 1980s face lift), a full-sized inside walking maze on the bottom floor and a large seasonal "talking Christmas tree" where children could relate their Christmas wishes to the interactive tree (via intercom nestled inside the limbs).
