Carnival Valor is a post-Panamax Conquest-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. The vessel was built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (northern Italy). She was floated out on March 27, 2004, and christened by American journalist Katie Couric in Miami on December 17, 2004. [3]

The Conquest design is an original Carnival design, based on the Destiny class. Carnival Vista is the first ship in Carnival's Vista class. The ship was christened in New York City by its godmother, Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber. [8] On August 28, 2016, Carnival Vista ' s wake caused extensive damage to the tourist harbor of Marina del Nettuno, near Messina, Italy. [9] [10]
The Tropicale was launched in 1981, and was the first cruise ship custom-built for the company, introducing Carnival's characteristic winged funnel, designed by Joe Farcus. [9] [8] The interiors were also designed by Farcus, evolving Carnival's signature themed lounges. [8]
All were the biggest ships for Carnival until the Fantasy class was built. Carnival retired Jubilee in 2004 and transferred the ship to P&O Cruises Australia where it became Pacific Sun.
