2001–2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. The Ford SVT Lightning is a sports/performance version of the F-150, developed by the SVT (Special Vehicle Team) division of Ford. For 1999, the second generation of the Lightning was released using the PN96 platform, after a three-year hiatus of the model line.
The HDPP introduced several enhancements, including a reinforced frame and suspension, LT245/70R17D BSW all-season tires mounted on 17-inch steel seven-lug rims, and a more robust 10.25-inch rear axle with a 4.10:1 ratio (optionally available with limited-slip differential), resulting in an increased GVWR of 8,200 pounds.
For 1991, it was exclusive to the regular-cab F-150; for 1992, it was available on all body styles of the F-150 and introduced on the Ford Bronco. The Nite edition was available with two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with either the 5.0L or 5.8L V8; it also included a sport suspension and alloy wheels on 235/75R15 white-letter tires.
The nameplate was last used on the 2014 Ford F-150 for a sport appearance package.
