This is a list of currently active horse racing venues, both Thoroughbred racing and harness racing, sorted by country. In most English-speaking countries they are called "racecourses". The United States and some parts of Canada use the term "racetracks" and some parts of Canada also use "raceway".
Hawthorne Race Course is a racetrack for horse racing in Stickney, Illinois, near Chicago. The oldest continually run family-owned racetrack in North America, in 2009 the Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system for 65 Thoroughbred racetracks in North America. Of the top ten, Hawthorne was ranked No. 8.
Immediately inside of this is the Widener Turf Course (named after the Widener family that has a long and prestigious history in American horse racing) spanning 1 + 5 ⁄ 16 miles (2.1 km) plus 27 feet (8.2 m), which in turn encircles an Inner Turf Course with a circumference of 1 + 3 ⁄ 16 miles (1.9 km) plus 103 feet (31 m).

Aqueduct Racetrack is a Thoroughbred horse racing facility and casino in the South Ozone Park and Jamaica neighborhoods of Queens, New York City, United States. [1] Aqueduct is the only racetrack located within New York City limits. Its racing meets are usually from late October/early November through April.
