The University of Alberta Botanic Garden (formerly the Devonian Botanic Garden) is Alberta's largest botanical garden. It was established in 1959 by the University of Alberta . It is approximately 3.1 km (1.9 mi) west of the city of Edmonton and 5.9 km (3.7 mi) north of the town of Devon , in Parkland County .

It contains Edmonton Police Service's Southeast Division headquarters; there is a City run Recreation Centre, and is home to Mill Woods Park. As well as Mill Woods Golf Course in the just south of Whitemud Drive.
The arboretum serves as a Minnesota state game refuge. It was originally created in the 1920s. The arboretum is divided by Minnesota State Highway 19 into the Upper Arboretum (south of the highway) and the Lower Arboretum (north of the highway; "lower" because it contains the low-lying floodplain of the Cannon River).
Overall development of the community is guided by the Mill Woods Town Centre Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP), which was original adopted by Edmonton City Council in 1987. [7] The Mill Woods Town Centre community is bounded by 23 Avenue to the south, 66 Street to the west, 34 Avenue to the north and 50 Street to the east. [6]
