Lynch sold the business in 1938, and when it changed hands again in 1946 it was renamed the Club Tara Hideaway. These first three sets of owners lived in the building's back room. A new owner purchased the business in 1966, shortening the name to Club Tara, expanding the menu, and converting the back room to additional dining space.
The community is in southern Fountain County, built around a reservoir named "Lake Holiday Hide-away" [3] built on Mill Creek. The town of Kingman is 2 miles (3 km) to the southeast, while Veedersburg is 10 miles (16 km) to the north.
Hiking is easy around the lake, but moderate, with steep sections everywhere else. The top of Barlow Mountain offers views of Pierrepont Lake, Redding hills, and on rare occasions, Long Island Sound. The Hideaway is the latest hot spot from celebrity party producers Jeffrey Best and Ken Jones of Best Events, as well as nightlife titans JT Torregiani, Sylvain Bitton and David Jarrett of Warwick.
Lake Waubeeka is located at Moses Mountain, directly southeast of Wooster Mountain State Park along Ives Trail, north of the town of Redding and northeast of Ridgefield. [8] The lake itself occupies 36 acres (15 ha) and has a maximum depth of 21 feet (6.4 m). The shoreline is almost completely developed, with the exception of two small beaches. [9]
Five years after the completion of the dam, a marina, beach and playground were built on the north side of the lake. The residents of Hide-A-Way Hills created a non-profit club in 1972, and on February 21, 1973, the club assumed ownership from the original developer.
The two municipalities are the Borough of Ridgefield and the Village of Ridgefield Park. Both municipalities had been part of Ridgefield Township, a township that had existed in southeastern Bergen County, that was created in 1871. Ridgefield Borough and Ridgefield Park Village were each formed from portions of Ridgefield Township in 1892.
