The current seat of the Earls of Mexborough is Arden Hall, near Hawnby, in Yorkshire. The estate was acquired by the family in 1897. Sarah Greville, Countess of Warwick (born Lady Sarah Elizabeth Savile; 4 February 1786 – 30 January 1851), [1] formerly Lady Monson, was the wife of Henry Greville, 3rd Earl of Warwick. Lady Sarah was the daughter of John Savile, 2nd Earl of Mexborough and his wife, the former Elizabeth Stephenson. The family home was at Methley Park, near Leeds.
They had several children, including Lady Dorothy Nevill, Lady Rachel Walpole, who married John Savile, 4th Earl of Mexborough, and the Hon. Frederick Walpole. Orford died in December 1858, aged 75, and was succeeded in the earldom by his eldest son, Horatio. Lady Orford died in February 1860. [4]

Sometimes the son of a peer can be referred to as a viscount even when he could use a more senior courtesy title which differs in name from the substantive title. Family tradition plays a role in this. For example, the eldest son of the Marquess of Londonderry is Viscount Castlereagh, even though the Marquess is also the Earl Vane. [6] [7]
