Saskadena Six (formerly Suicide Six) is a ski resort in South Pomfret, Vermont. Its claim to historical fame as the earliest ski resort derives from the installation, in January 1934, of an improvised rope tow , the first in the United States, on a hill located on Clinton Gilbert's farm.
In 1982, Burton marketed its product at the National Snowboarding Championships, held at Suicide Six. Snow Valley also allowed snowboarders and in 1984 hosted the US Open. In 1985, the National Snowboarding Championships moved to Stratton Mountain and became the U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships, which was owned and operated by Burton.
Snow Valley is the longest continually operating ski resort in Southern California and is also one of three ski resorts in the San Bernardino National Forest. Originally named "Fish Camp" for the pond located in the area above the former chair 5, the site was developed into a roadside resort and lumber mill in the 1920s by the Swetkowich brothers.
