Halekulani (var. Halekūlani) is an oceanfront luxury hotel located on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. Built in 1984, it contains 453 rooms in five buildings on 5 acres (20,000 m 2 ) of property. The name Halekūlani is a combination of Hawaiian words (hale + kū + lani) meaning "House Befitting Heaven".
Several projects are underway, including constructing a groin along a section of Waikiki Beach in front of the Halekulani Hotel and the OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, which has nearly eroded
The company was founded by Roy and Estelle Kelley, who opened their first hotel in 1947. Roy Kelley was an architect for Charles William Dickey and worked on many of Honolulu's landmark buildings, including the Immigration Station, Montegue Hall at Punahou School, the main building of the old Halekulani Hotel and the former Waikiki Theater.
The first high-rise hotels on Waikīkī were built in 1955, including the Waikiki Biltmore and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. Development boomed due to demand, and the area became filled with large resort hotels, such as the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Halekulani, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Marriott Waikiki, Sheraton Waikiki.

In 1930, he completed the hotel's Honeymoon Cottage, and in 1931 its main building. [7] In 1931, he designed the Immigration Station (construction completed in 1934) at Honolulu Harbor while a young architect from California and new to Honolulu, Val Ossipoff, was working for Dickey. [8] He designed the Waikiki Theatre in 1936.
