The space was turned into the Disneyland Dream Suite—a two-bedroom, two-bath guest suite. [1] During the "Year of a Million Dreams," guests were chosen at random to spend the night in the Dream Suite. Imagineers used the original 1960s Royal Suite designs and concepts created by Dorothea Redmond and set decorator Emile Kuri as inspiration.
The Disneyland Dream Suite was a 2,200-square-foot (200 m 2) luxury apartment located in the New Orleans Square area of Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort. It was created as part of the "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion that ran from October 1, 2006, through December 31, 2008, and closed in 2016.
At the time of its construction in the mid-1950s, Disneyland was in a remote area outside Anaheim, California. Walt Disney wanted to build a hotel for Disneyland visitors to stay overnight, since Disneyland was quite a drive from the established population centers of Southern California at the time, but Disney's financial resources were significantly depleted by the construction of the park.
Hilton Anaheim is the largest hotel in Orange County and the second-largest hotel in all of Southern California with 1,572 guestrooms. The Hilton Anaheim has one of the largest meeting spaces in Orange County, with over 100,000 square feet (9,300 m 2) of meeting and event space and is adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center. [1]
