The Mazda MX-5 (NA) (sold in Japan as the Eunos Roadster (ユーノス・ロードスター, Yūnosu Rōdosutā) and in North America as the Mazda MX-5 Miata) is the first generation of the Mazda MX-5, manufactured from 1989 to 1997.
The first character is a letter representing the model family, while the second is a sequential letter for subsequent models. For example, the Mazda N family used by the Mazda Miata started at NA and was updated in 1998 to NB and in 2006 to NC. The 2016 and newer MX-5s are designated ND.
The 2003 Miata Club Sport (MCS) was a special edition MX-5 NB produced at the behest of the SCCA, and was featured prominently in the 2003 Miata sales brochure. Limited to 50 units, 25 were Classic Red with the other 25 being Pure White. A hard or soft top option was available. The MCS came with no power steering, air conditioning or ABS brakes.
