In the early 1990s, 1560 simulcasted on WRED 95.7 (now WIMX), this was short lived. WTOD then, became a simulcast station of fellow country station WKKO. With a few exceptions, WTOD was a full time simulcast of WKKO until 2004. In the fall of 2004, the full-time simulcast of WKKO was dropped in favor of Syndicated Conservative Talk Radio.
The year 2006 saw even more improvements at WRQN-FM, as transmitter power was increased to 7,000 watts, a new tower was built, and the station was the first in the Toledo market to broadcast with HD-Radio. Toledo radio legend Bob Kelly (who joined the station after the switch to oldies) was inducted into the Ohio Radio Hall of Fame in October 2006.

WSPD is Toledo's oldest radio station. It was first authorized by telegram on August 24, 1923 as WTAL, with the station signing on the next day. The original owner was the Toledo Radio & Electric Company at 433 Superior St. The call sign was randomly assigned from a sequential list of available call letters. [4] [5]
