The Turkish Cucumbers (German: Die türkischen Gurken) is a 1962 West German comedy film directed by Rolf Olsen and starring Gunther Philipp, Oskar Sima and Susi Nicoletti. [1] The film's sets were designed by the art directors Hertha Hareiter and Otto Pischinger. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich.

Tobis Film was a German film production and film distribution company. Founded in the late 1920s as a merger of several companies involved in the switch from silent to sound films, the organisation emerged as a leading German sound studio. [1] Tobis used the Tri-Ergon sound-on-film system under the Tobis-Klang trade name.
The film won two German Film Awards. It was chosen as West Germany 's official submission to the 44th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film , but did not manage to receive a nomination. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It was also listed to compete at the 1968 Cannes Film Festival , [ 3 ] but the festival was cancelled due to the events of May 1968 in France .
The film starred Sidse Babett Knudsen, Niels Olsen, Rafael Edholm, and Paprika Steen in story about two unfaithful married couples faced with becoming first-time parents. The film was considered to mark a modern transition in Danish romantic comedies, [ 2 ] and became the third biggest box-office success of the 1990s in Denmark. [ 3 ]
