Edward Sinclair Perry (3 February 1914 – 29 August 1977) [1] was an English actor who played the role of the verger, Maurice Yeatman, in Dad's Army. He also made appearances in Z-Cars , Danger Man .
Maurice Yeatman (Edward Sinclair), the verger at St Aldhelm's Church and Scoutmaster of the local Sea Scout troop. He is often hostile to the platoon while frequently sycophantic towards the vicar. Despite this, the vicar often struggles to tolerate the verger and frequently employs the catchphrase "Oh do be quiet, Mr Yeatman!".
Production ended one year before her death, with last episodes airing posthumously in 2006, after three years of hiatus, replaced with Breakfast with Bear in 2005.
