PeaceFest is an annual music festival held in Peace River, Alberta. The festival was started in 1997 following a flood that destroyed much of downtown Peace River, and regularly draws crowds of over 10,000 people. [1] [2]

The Peace River Country (or Peace Country; French: Région de la Rivière-de-la-paix) is an aspen parkland region centring on the Peace River in Canada.It extends from northwestern Alberta to the Rocky Mountains in northeastern British Columbia, where a certain portion of the region is also referred to as the Peace River Block.
The town was named after Dr. M.E. Grimshaw, a pioneer doctor from Kingston, Ontario who settled in Peace River (then known as Peace River Crossing) in 1914.
