These counts are based on entries in the National Register Information Database as of April 24, 2008 [2] and new weekly listings posted since then on the National Register of Historic Places web site. Lonoke (/ ˈ l oʊ n oʊ k /) is the second most populous city in Lonoke County, Arkansas, United States, and serves as its county seat. According to 2010 United States Census, the population of the city is 4,245. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area.
As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,015, making it the 10th-most populous of Arkansas's 75 counties. [1] The county seat is Lonoke and largest city is Cabot. [2] Included in the Central Arkansas metropolitan area, with Little Rock as the principal city, it is an alcohol prohibition or dry county.
It extends eastward on the south side of Front Street another 1-1/2 blocks. Lonoke was founded as a railroad community in 1862, and this area represents the core of its downtown area for the period 1900–1945. Most of the district's 23 buildings are commercial structures, one to two stories in height, with brick facades. [2]
