Richard Bong State Recreation Area is a 4,515-acre (1,827 ha) unit of the state park system of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is located in the town of Brighton , in Kenosha County . This managed prairie contains 8.3 miles (13 km) of mountain bike trails.
Today, the former base site is known as the Richard Bong State Recreation Area. It was planned that Spokane Air Force Base, Washington, was to be renamed Bong Air Force Base, until General Muir Fairchild died on active duty in 1950, and it was named Fairchild Air Force Base instead. [18] Bong is buried at Poplar Cemetery in Poplar, Wisconsin.

A lake was created on the east end of the property by damming an old irrigation ditch that passed under the former Brighton Road on its way to Highway 75.
