On July 25, 2023, the Department of Rail Transport officially announced the draft of the M-Map 2. This new master plan will be submitted to the Cabinet for official approval in 2024, with the goal of expediting the commencement of all projects within 20 years, by 2042. The master plan is divided into three main categories as follows [11]
The BTS Skytrain Map of Bangkok urban transit systems. Bangkok Metropolitan Region is served by 9 rapid transit rail lines as of 2023. The BTS Skytrain consists of three lines, the Sukhumvit Line, Silom Line and Gold Line. The Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) also consists of three lines, the Blue Line, Purple Line and Yellow Line.
The Skytrain's daily passenger numbers have steadily increased since then. On 9 December 2005, more than 500,000 single trips were made on the Skytrain on a single day for the first time. By September 2012, the Skytrain served around 600,000 passengers on an average day, increasing to 650,000 on an average weekday in 2013.
