Barry McGuire (born October 15, 1935) is an American singer-songwriter [1] primarily known for his 1965 hit "Eve of Destruction". He was later a singer and songwriter of contemporary Christian music .
McGuire was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. [11] He graduated from Rutgers University. [12]Soon after graduating college, McGuire and a group of friends formed the band Liquid Idiot before relocating to Manhattan in 1979, where the group reformed as the dance-punk band Liquid Liquid, with McGuire serving as the band's bassist.
