Beta Lyrae Aa is a semidetached binary system made up of a stellar class B6-8 primary star and a secondary that is probably also a B-type star. The fainter, less massive star in the system was once the more massive member of the pair, which caused it to evolve away from the main sequence first and become a giant star .

HD 140283 (also known as the Methuselah star) is a metal-poor subgiant star about 200 light years away from the Earth in the constellation Libra, near the boundary with Ophiuchus in the Milky Way Galaxy. Its apparent magnitude is 7.205, so it can be seen with binoculars. It is one of the oldest stars known.
S stars, S star, S-stars, or S-star may refer to: S-type star , a late-type giant star, a cool giant with approximately equal quantities of carbon and oxygen in its atmosphere Stars around the supermassive black hole at the Milky Way galactic centre , associated with radio source Sagittarius A*
The absolute magnitude of Beta Tauri is −1.34, similar to another star in Taurus, Maia in the Pleiades star cluster. Like Maia, β Tauri is a B-class giant with a luminosity 700 times solar (L ☉). [18] It has evolved to become a giant star, larger and cooler than when it was on the main sequence. [19]
