The Crabbers have won 18 state titles the first in 1912 and two National High School titles 1996 and 1997. In 1928, the Darling Estate donated land on Hampton's Victoria Road, exclusively for the use of athletic facilities. The original stadium lasted until 1987, two years before the current stadium opened. The city's four high schools -Bethel, Hampton, Kecoughtan, and Phoebus- each use Darling Stadium for their home football games.

Bethel High School was built in 1968 to handle the overflow of Hampton High School and Kecoughtan High School students. Since the school board liked the Kecoughtan High School floor plan, Bethel's floor plan was designed similarly, with only a couple of differences (e.g., the courtyard and the 900 hallways).
The elementary school was destroyed by a fire in October 1959. [2] A new high school was built during 1961 thru 1963. The first students went to the new high school in late 1963. The first class of students to go all four years to this new school graduated in 1967. The old high school became the elementary school. Both buildings are still in use.
