Starting on the 2016 National Schools Press Conference, a new group contest was added, the Television Broadcasting and Script Writing, wherein like its radio counterpart the participating students stimulated a live TV newscast from anchoring to production. It started as an exhibitional contest and eventually became a formal group contest in 2017.

National Novel Writing Month, often shortened to NaNoWriMo (/ ˌ n æ n oʊ ˈ r aɪ m oʊ / NAN-oh-RY-moh), [1] is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that promotes creative writing around the world.
Even if the script is given to other writers and rewritten, that first writer created the seeds of that idea and he or she should get some regard. But for a script from a book, it's different. Even if little of the initial efforts remain in the final script, original writers are often awarded credit because they were first on the scene.
Gee Nicholl, widow of producer Don Nicholl, worked with Julian Blaustein in 1985 to develop the program with the Academy. The original 1986 winners were Allison Anders, Dennis Clontz, and Jeff Eugenides. 1989 fellow Radha Bharadwaj wrote the first screenplay made into a film, the 1991 drama Closet Land.
Landmark inaugurated the program in the mid-1980s as The National Written and Illustrated by... Awards Contest for Students , [ 3 ] and ran it until 1999. [ 1 ] A year later, future awards were canceled indefinitely, due to falling sales of their titles caused by "the financial crunch in many schools and libraries". [ 4 ]
