Beckenham Beacon is a redeveloped health centre in Beckenham, on the site of the old Beckenham Hospital, in the London Borough of Bromley, England. It is managed by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It opened in 2009. [1] [2]
It became the Bromley (Kent) and District Hospital in 1928 and the Bromley and District Hospital in 1936. [1] It joined the National Health Service in 1948 and became Bromley Hospital in 1990. [1] After services were transferred to the Princess Royal University Hospital, the Bromley Hospital closed in 2003.
The hospital has its origins in the Bromley Union Workhouse Infirmary which was opened on the site in March 1845. [1] [2] A female infirmary block was added in 1898 and two new medical blocks were completed in 1929. [2] A new wing was added in 1936 at which time the facility became the Farnborough County Hospital. [2]
