Funkdafied is the debut album by American rapper Da Brat. It was released on June 28, 1994, and sold over one million copies, making her the first solo female rapper to go Platinum. [ 2 ] Funkdafied debuted and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200 , and topped the Rap Charts and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
To date, "Funkdafied" remains Da Brat's most successful single and is her only single to have been certified platinum for shipments exceeding one million copies, earning the certification on August 16, 1994. [1] By the end of the year, it had sold 800,000 copies. [3]
Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Manuel Seal, Jr., who used a sample of the Mary Jane Girls' "All Night Long", "Give It 2 You" was the final single from Da Brat's platinum-certified album Funkdafied after "Funkdafied" (#6 US) and "Fa All Y'all" (#37 US).

In 1992, Da Brat's big break occurred when she won the grand prize in a local rap contest sponsored by Yo! MTV Raps.As part of her prize, Brat met the young rap duo Kris Kross and was introduced to their producer, Jermaine Dupri; Brat was eventually signed to his So So Def label, with Dupri remaining a collaborator, friend and fixture throughout the entirety of Brat's career.
