[2] It is tagged as the "Giant Clam Capital of the Philippines" because of the shallow reef surrounding the island that is home to giant clams locally known as "Taklobo" in an almost 16 hectares of the ocean.
The church tower of Bolinao used to be the tallest in Pangasinan until an earthquake destroyed half of the tower in 1788. The church convent was accidentally burned in 1819. [2] The first priest was ordained in Bolinao Church in 1974. In 1985, it became a parish of the Diocese of Alaminos, previously being under the Diocese of Lingayen.
