Ventura County (/ v ɛ n ˈ t ʊər ə / ⓘ) is a county located in the southern part of the U.S. state of California.As of the 2020 census, the population was 843,843. [10] [13] The largest city is Oxnard, and the county seat is the city of Ventura.
The VCTC oversees highway, bus, aviation, rail and bicycle activity and controls the use of government funds for transportation projects. The commission was created by state legislation in 1988 [1] and began operation in 1989, when it assumed the transportation responsibilities of the Ventura County Association of Governments. [2]
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit began in 1971. In 2009, the Ventura County Fire District entered into a cooperative agreement in which the Aviation Unit became a joint venture between the Fire District and Sheriff’s Office. The Fire District contributes funding and staff to the operation.
