Fox River Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping center located in Grand Chute, Wisconsin, United States, which serves the Appleton, Wisconsin metropolitan area. It is a major driver of the local economy and its construction helped spur the growth of the Grand Chute shopping district, which is today known as the "shopping capital of Wisconsin".
Despite these vacancies, Shopko opened a store at the center in March 1971. The 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m 2) store was the second in the Fox Cities. [4] Although W. T. Grant closed in 1976, several new stores opened within the plaza within the following year, including RadioShack. [5] The W. T. Grant store became Lathrop Furniture in 1979. [6]
The mall was built by Hamilton Construction Company under the name Hoffman Shopping Centers, Inc. Designed by George Narovec of Appleton, it was one of the first malls in Wisconsin to be enclosed. After initial delays that saw the cancellation of two proposed anchor stores (a Jillian's and a movie theater), [1] construction began on Fountain Walk in late 2001.
