Jiaotong University, Jiao Tong University, or Chiao Tung University (simplified Chinese: 交通大学; traditional Chinese: 交通大學) was established in 1921 by the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of China's Beiyang government under the merger of the three scattered universities, and later separated into five universities to date.
The Xi'an campus changed its name to Xi'an Jiaotong University and the Shanghai campus changed its name to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Xi'an Jiaotong University was immediately listed as a National Key University.
