Cape Breton Island (French: île du Cap-Breton, formerly île Royale; Scottish Gaelic: Ceap Breatainn or Eilean Cheap Bhreatainn; Mi'kmaq: Unama'ki) [5] is a rugged and irregularly shaped island [6] on the Atlantic coast of North America and part of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
It is located where the Skye River flows into St. Patrick's Channel, an arm of Bras d'Or Lake in the central part of Cape Breton Island, next to the Whycocomagh 2 reserve. The town is a local service centre and has an education Centre, elementary school, and the Whycocomagh Provincial Park. [3]

Iona (Scottish Gaelic: Sanndraigh) is an unincorporated place in the Municipality of the County of Victoria, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is named after Iona in Scotland. It is at the western end of the Barra Strait Bridge, opposite Grand Narrows. Iona was settled by Gaelic speaking immigrants from the Isle of Barra in 1802.
