The school continues to coordinate with Bexley London Borough Council for admissions. St. Columba's Catholic Boys' School has a sister school, St. Catherine's Catholic School for Girls, which is on a separate site nearby. Following a short inspection of the school on 23 January 2019 James Whiting, the Ofsted Inspector, ranked the school 'good'.
Bexleyheath has leisure facilities including the Edward Alderton Theatre, Cineworld cinema, hotel, the Central Library, Bexley Local Studies and Archive Centre, five-a-side football centre, bingo hall and ten-pin bowling alley (Ten Pin). Bexleyheath and Belvedere Hockey Club are based in Welling, but play some home matches at Erith School. [12]
On 1 September 2011, Bexleyheath School became Bexleyheath Academy, sponsored by the London Academies Enterprise Trust (LAET), part of the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) family of schools. Headmaster Malcolm Noble retired after 14 years in the 2007 Summer term. He was replaced on an interim basis by Paul O'Brien.

The former St Joseph's Campus at 269 Woolwich Road near Bostall Heath in Abbey Wood used to be the St Joseph's Convent Grammar School, a Catholic girls' school until 1979; there also was the Main Road campus in Sidcup. Both sites were sold off for housing developments principally to earn revenue for the College.
