The Siak-centred sultanate was founded by Sultan Abdul Jalil Rahmat Shah in 1722. The first Sultan died in 1746 and later posthumously given the title of Marhum Buantan . The reign was continued to Sultan Abdul Jalil Muzaffar Shah (1746–1761) who ruled for about 19 years.
Raja Kecil (d. 1746), or Raja Kecik, also known as Sultan Abdul Jalil Rahmat Shah (r. 1722–1746), was the first sultan of the Sultanate of Siak Sri Indrapura.A controversial figure, due to his origin tales and the rebellion he led, Raja Kecil united a multi-ethnic force in eastern Sumatra to defeat the Johor Sultanate in 1718.

Sultan Badr ul-Alam Syah (died 1765) was the twenty-sixth sultan of Aceh in northern Sumatra. He usurped the throne from the House of Royal Buginese Wajoq-Aceh and ruled from 1764 to 1765. When Sultan Alauddin Johan Syah died in 1760, his son and successor Alauddin Mahmud Syah I was still young.

Siak Sri Indrapura Palace or Siak Palace (Indonesian: Istana Siak Sri Inderapura or Indonesian: Istana Asserayah Hasyimiah or Indonesian: Istana Matahari Timur) is an istana (royal palace) of the Sultanate of Siak Sri Indrapura that is located at Siak Regency, Riau, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The palace is now transformed into a museum.
