Toro part numbers 112-6064 and 112-3749 respectively. My distributor is out of stock, as they aren't all that great at stocking Toro parts. I wouldn't expect them in for a couple of weeks if I ordered it there. However, I have seen other brands of MTD mowers with the same kind of deck belt tensioning system, and their parts have MTD numbers.
Not uncommon - if they buy parts from the USA, one by one, shipping to AU can be incredibly expensive - I've seen USPS package (priority mail international) quotes as much as $45 USD (and that's with commercial rate discounts from USPS) for as little as a 2 pound package - figure that plus the $40 tank, plus dealer markup , guessing a typical 35% probably $130 USD or round about $170 AUD just ...
For parts, search the MTD site using 952Z1P65BU or maybe 752Z1P65BU Just get the MTD part number and go back to the "parts store" and give it to the counter person. If he still can't find the part, change where you get your parts!
The only other thing is that Gardner is lower on Husqvarna parts and RBI is lower on MTD parts. An example is those 490-110-Y193 blade sets Gardner was $68.40 as where RBI was $55.14. The truest measure of society is the how it treats its elderly, its pets, and its prisoners.
Very well could be identical since MTD builds some consumer grade units for Toro. However it can be difficult to find any cross reference, sometimes you'll find a belt or other parts with the MTD part number still on it, and when you do, add that to your notes, sometimes you get enough unique MTD part numbers to be able to reverse-check and cross a Toro unit to an MTD model number that may be ...
MTD Lawn Chief....Model 13AN678G022 (843706) , Serial # 1A051B80066 I think the Model Series is considered 678 I am looking for a service manual, or anything else that can help me tear the steering linkage apart and put it back correctly. I think the drag link is bent, and there may be problems with the steering gear.
It is a complicated string of events. In 1988, Bolens was purchased by GardenWay; then in 1993, GardenWay purchased Troy-Bilt. The company manufactured very durable, sturdy equipment but eventually filed for bankruptcy, was broken up and the parts were sold off. MTD Products Inc (Modern Tool and Die Company) acquired Garden Way in 2001.
So I happen to open the ipl for a slightly newer MTD product (2004) and happen by the transaxle picture. Says it is 618-0163B ie same. But now part 26 is listed (26 750-0767 Axle Spacer) and the next washer on the right is not a selection but just the .060 washer (60 736-0445 Flat Washer .76 ID x 1.5 OD x .060).
It like buying parts from Husqvarna or MTD for Craftsman mowers. Or like repairing 2 cycle carburetors using the carburetor manufacture parts instead of buying from the equipment OEM. Some OEM part suppliers will sale parts to you at a much better price direct instead of you having to pay all those extra markups.
From what I can find out that is a very old MTD splitter and the parts are NLA though them. Otherwords if not a simple fix you need to convert it so it can use newer available parts. I have the same problem on older equipment that simply parts are NLA due either manufacture or retailer are no longer in business.
