Evergreen Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, the population was 19,943. [ 3 ] The village shares a border with Chicago on the north, east, and south sides; while also sharing a border with Oak Lawn on the west side.
In 1950, according to the census, the town's population was listed as 10,400, but by the spring of 1956, Evergreen Park's population ballooned to nearly 20,000 residents. [ 5 ] On May 5, 1963, at the cost of $1,285,000, the board of education of district 231 announced an open house for the new 2-story wing addition to the original buildings.
Although their population has spread out, Irish Americans continue to make up the majority of the ethnic white American population on the south side of Chicago, especially in Beverly, Canaryville, Bridgeport, Scottsdale, Mount Greenwood, Morgan Park, Garfield Ridge, Clearing, Evergreen Park, and Oak Lawn.
