Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has proposed $267 million in his first Six-Year Highway Plan for the I-69 bridge. Of that, $77 million would become available from 2020 to 2022 and the rest from 2023 to 2026. The proposed money source developed the project and then began a portion of construction running from KY 425/Henderson Bypass to US 60.
Currently, KY 15 is being relocated onto a new four-lane divided alignment in phases. Construction on section 17 of the relocation project is from KY 205 at Vancleve to Fivemile; construction began on January 6, 2005, at a cost of $36.4 million and is 100% complete. [2]
An extension east of KY 922 (Newtown Pike) was not originally planned. However, Newtown Springs, a new development project taking place east of KY 922 and the eastern terminus of Citation Boulevard, incorporated an extension of the route east towards KY 353 (Russell Cave Road). It is being constructed as a two-lane road with curbs and sidewalks.
