  2. Nationwide Credit Card PIN and card reader - MoneySavingExpert...

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/.../nationwide-credit-card-pin-and-card-reader

Today I changed my Nationwide select credit card PIN and when I put my credit card into my card reader I get a wrong card message. Before I changed my PIN, when I logged into my online Nationwide account I got the choice of using my credit card or my debit card, now I just get the option to use my debit card.

  3. Accepting card payments at craft fairs - MoneySavingExpert Forum

Personally would suggest getting a reader anyway as firstly you can get a "insert card" requirement occasionally which I dont think a straight android phone can deal with plus there was one person refusing to allow a trader to put their phone to their card saying they were trying to copy the details but the same person earlier was perfectly ...

  5. card readers - MoneySavingExpert Forum

My RBS card reader is complaining about a low battery. I tried changing batteries but either the new ones are faulty or I did something wrong as it didn't work after I had changed. I've just got (as part of their switching offer) a card reader from NatWest which I think is identical to the RBS one.I'm expecting it to work for RBS.

  6. Bank Card Readers - all the same? - MoneySavingExpert Forum

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2904224

IMHO, the card readers may be a bit more subtle than that. although the technology is shared by several of the banks (for instance a Natwest card is recognised by a Nationwide labelled reader) try authorising a transaction with the "wrong" reader. or if you want a worry, google "optimised to fail" and read the (2meg) academic paper.

  8. RBS Card readers? 1 per account/person? or SAME one can be used...

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4378427/rbs-card-readers-1-per-account...

However, a card is issued to an individual and should only be used by that individual. With a joint account more than one card is issued and each person is supposed to use only their own card/PIN. It is a breach of Ts&Cs to allow someone else to use ones card.

  9. Paying a tradesman by credit card - MoneySavingExpert Forum

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6225508/paying-a-tradesman-by-credit-card

On a general note, I've noticed these portable card readers more and more recently. Market stallholders seem to be using them more and more and I stopped in a layby for a bacon roll last week and they accepted contactless payment by credit card via an app on their phone and a small widget wirelessly connected to the phone.

  10. Paying builders via credit card? — MoneySavingExpert Forum

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5980297/paying-builders-via-credit-card

Someone told me a business account offers the same protection as credit card payments. Paying for materials increases risk in a different way because the builder isn't responsible for their quality. If something fails, you only have a contract for labour and so the first issue is whether it's a faulty product or workmanship.

  11. M&S credit card issues — MoneySavingExpert Forum

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6391952/m-s-credit-card-issues

I’ve had an M&S credit card for 15 years now, and have had some issues with it that are frustrating. I tried to buy something online (card reader at the ready to verify) last week, only for the card reader to say wrong card. I rang them and wasn’t given an explanation but they would open a complaint.
