Wind Creek State Park is a public recreation area located seven miles (11 km) south of Alexander City, Alabama, on the western side of Lake Martin, a 41,000-acre (17,000 ha) reservoir on the Tallapoosa River. The state park occupies 1,445 acres (585 ha) and is managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. [1]

SR 128 is the signed route to provide access to Wind Creek State Park from SR 63. The intersection of SR 63 and SR 128 is approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Alexander City, where SR 63 intersects U.S. Route 280 (US 280). From SR 63, SR 128 heads east through wooded areas and enters the state park.
Wind Creek Event Center was designed by Howard Kulp Architects of Salisbury Township. The event center features 14,000 sq ft (1,300 m 2 ) of flexible multipurpose space, which accommodates meetings, conventions, and a variety of entertainment events.
It is located about eight miles north of the Alabama/Florida State line along Alabama State Road 137. At the center of the recreation area is Open Pond, a natural sinkhole lake. Several other lakes are in the immediate vicinity of the facilities and can be reached by trail or on unpaved roads. Open Pond itself is available for freshwater fishing.
Roland Cooper State Park is a public recreation area located six miles north of Camden, Alabama, on the eastern shore of Dannelly Reservoir, a 22,000-acre (8,900 ha) impoundment of the Alabama River known locally as the Millers Ferry Reservoir.
