David Sarnoff (February 27, 1891 – December 12, 1971) was a Russian [4] and American businessman who played an important role in the American history of radio and television. He led RCA for most of his career in various capacities from shortly after its founding in 1919 until his retirement in 1970.
Ann Marie Sarnoff (née Misiaszek; born c. 1961) [1] is an American television executive. [2] She became the chairwoman and CEO of Warner Bros. in the summer of 2019. [ 3 ] Sarnoff was the first woman to hold the position at the company.
David Sarnoff fell seriously ill in 1970 and was removed from the board, at which point Robert became chairman of the board as well as CEO. The elder Sarnoff died in December, 1971. Earlier that year, Robert sold RCA's computer division to Sperry Rand at a $490 million loss, an action which resulted in significant criticism within the company.
