Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action made an emotional nod to one of the animated series most emotional moments featuring Leaves From The Vine and Uncle Iroh.
Kneeling before a portrait of his son, Iroh tearfully sings "Leaves from the Vine", a folk song about a young soldier returning home. Aang helps a zookeeper build a new zoo outside the wall. Sokka accidentally ends up in a girls-only poetry club.
Iroh is a retired general with a lifetime of combat experience and a reputation of honor, loyalty and integrity. Iroh is highly skilled in firebending; the Avatar show creators based the forms of this fictional form of combat upon the real-life Chinese martial arts techniques of changquan, Shaolin kung fu, Southern Dragon kung fu and xingyiquan.
CBR noted that "The Tales of Ba Sing Se" was an example of the great filler episodes in Avatar, and a departure from the generally bland filler episodes in many television shows. CBR especially praised Iroh's tribute to his son as an example of Avatar ' s character building, and described it as "the most touching and memorable tale". [8]
