Sub-Zero was founded as the Sub-Zero Freezer Company on August 20, 1945 by Westye F. Bakke in Madison, Wisconsin. [2] In 2000, it acquired the domestic appliance line of the Wolf Range Corporation, [3] a California-based manufacturer of professional-style ranges, cooktops and grills for both home and commercial use.
Fulgor was founded by Piero Puricelli in 1949 shortly after he began working on a coal-powered cooker he hoped to develop. Piero chose the name Fulgor for his budding company because of its Latin meaning; "to shine". [2] The company began mass-producing their first line of coal-powered cookers, or ranges as they're known in North America, in 1955.
Amana has since expanded into manufacturing a variety of other appliances, including furnaces, ovens, countertop ranges, dishwashers, and clothes washers and dryers. Whirlpool manufactures products under the Amana, JennAir, KitchenAid, Maytag and Whirlpool name at their factory in Amana, Iowa.
