The trail continues up the mountain and becomes difficult after reaching the falls, eventually connecting with the Mountains to Sea Trail just below Craggy Pinnacle. From there, hikers can go in either direction to reach the Parkway; going right takes leads to the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center. Many hikers hike down to Douglas Falls from there.

The park is open year-round and sees 225,000 people each year being the most visited recreational place on the Blue Ridge Parkway [7] and second in visitors after the Folk Art Center that sees 250,000 visitors. [8]
The 0.5-mile (0.80 km) Upper Falls trail leads to the top of the falls, where visitors can see the small twin upper falls and the water spiraling through a small canyon on its way to the main falls. The Erwin's View trail leads to 2 overlooks, the Chimney View overlook (0.7 miles (1.1 km)) and the Erwin's View overlook (0.8 miles (1.3 km)).
