Newport (Irish: Baile Uí Fhiacháin [2]), historically known as Ballyveaghan and for many years also known as Newport-Pratt, [3] is a small town in the barony of Burrishoole, County Mayo, Ireland. The population was 626 in 2016. [1] It is located on the west coast of Ireland, along the shore of Clew Bay, north of Westport.
Plans were revived in a £100 million public-private scheme by Queensberry Real Estate and Newport City Council in 2012. Plans included a six-screen cinema, ten pin bowling alley, eight restaurants and a 350 space carpark. [3] A new bus station was also included, with finance coming from a £90 million loan from Newport City Council. [4]
The first phase was approved in April 2010 by Newport City Council; this is to create 1,330 homes, the district centre, a primary school and the west lake. [2] After gaining specific planning permission in April 2011, [ 5 ] Persimmon plc started work on the construction of the first 307 homes in September 2011. [ 3 ]

Langstone is situated on the eastern edge of the city and is one of Newport's more affluent areas, less than a mile from Junction 24 of the M4 motorway. Some of the ward is hilly and heavily forested. It is bounded to the north and east by the city boundary, to the west by the Caerleon ward, and to the south-west by the Coldra and Llanwern wards.

Alway is an electoral district (ward) and coterminous community (formerly civil parish) of the city of Newport.. The ward is bounded by the Great Western Main Line to the south, Windsor Road, Chepstow Road and Beechwood Road to the west, the M4 motorway to the north, and a line running between Glanwern Grove, Ringwood Hill, Ringland Circle, Aberthaw Road, and Balfe Road to the east.
