Daunt Books was founded in 1990 by former banker James Daunt with the purchase of a bookshop on Marylebone High Street. [1] It now focuses on first-hand titles (especially travel-related material). The Marylebone branch is housed in a former Edwardian bookshop with long oak galleries, graceful skylights and William Morris prints.
Front Street, now designated New Hampshire Route 111, developed as a major westbound road. It was where the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy was established in 1783, and the lower portion of Front Street near its junction with the commercial Water Street area is where its civic center developed.
Achilles James Daunt CBE (born 18 October 1963) is a British businessman. He is the founder of the Daunt Books chain, and since May 2011 has been managing director of the bookshop chain Waterstones. Since August 2019, Daunt has also been CEO of Barnes & Noble, the American bookstore chain. He is known as "the man who saved Waterstones".
The Exeter Waterfront Commercial Historic District encompasses the historic commercial and residential waterfront areas of Exeter, New Hampshire.The district extends along the north side of Water Street, roughly from Main Street to Front Street, and then along both sides of Water and High streets to the latter's junction with Portsmouth Street.
New Hampshire Route 27 passes through the center of Exeter as Main Street, Water Street, and High Street, and leads east and west parallel to Route 101. New Hampshire Route 111 runs west out of town as Front Street, leading 7 miles (11 km) to Kingston , and heads east out of town with Route 27 before splitting east-northeast to North Hampton .
