The event-packed history of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) began in 1902. Although Schweizerische Centralbahn (SCB) had been operating trains since 1 January 1901 on behalf of the Swiss federal government, the statutory framework for the establishment of SBB had yet to be created.
We work closely with our partner railways – Deutsche Bahn DB, Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB, France’s SNCF and Trenitalia in Italy – and simplify international distribution. We are expanding services between Switzerland and Germany, France and Italy in collaboration with our partners.
